The first ever football international match was held in Partick. The match was between Scotland and England and was played at Hamilton Cresent the home of West of Scotland Cricket Club in 1872. The match resulted in a 0-0 draw. The Club received the sum of £1.10s (£1.50 in today's currency) for the hire of the ground.
Another two internationals were also staged at Hamilton Crescent in 1874 and 1876. Scotland winning 2-1 and 3-0 respectively.
I wonder where they went for a pint after the game?
